If you didn't swap to map 3, you essentially ran the car on a valet map that's what the stock tune is. It wouldn't have been very impressive. On of the fellas I was chatting with on that thread had run the car on 91 with good results.
But I don't think it is a significant amount to not do a tune to take advantage of what you car can do, as long as you are reserved on how much of a tune you get. At the most I wouldn't go over a Stage 2 with a stock block.The Stage 1 takes out some of the lag accustom to the older 9-5's and it is pretty conservative.

the newer generations, like yours, have drastically better tuning number than my gen. Stage 1 on your car will get you surprisingly close to stage 2 for me. Like u/Umax_33 said though, depends on the tune/company. My 2 cents for searching for a tune though is to see what for reputable shops around install/recommend.
